Backgammoner is now a native iOS app. Everything you play on the website — real-time multiplayer, bot practice, your rating and profile — now lives in your pocket, built from the ground up for iPhone.

Built for the phone, not squeezed onto it

The app is a native SwiftUI build, not a wrapped web page. The board is rendered to fill the screen in portrait, with bigger dice you tap to roll, bear-off trays in each player banner, and checkers that always stay perfectly round. Move a checker by tapping it and then its destination; on your last die, a single tap moves it.

The same game, the same opponents

The app talks to the same servers as the website, so you are playing the same player pool with the same rules engine. Matchmaking, bot games, friend requests, and your Elo all carry over — log in and you are exactly where you left off.

  • Play Online — get matched with someone near your rating.
  • Play Bots — practice at Easy, Medium, or Hard.
  • Social — search players, send friend requests, and challenge friends.
  • Profile — rating, games played, member-since, and a profile photo you can set.

What's next

This first release focuses on the core loop: matchmaking, the live board, and your profile. Coming soon are the black-perspective board flip, on-screen clocks, the opening-roll animation, and a full Coach mode with real move-by-move analysis.

Update to the latest version, sign in, and play your first game on the phone. We would love to hear what you think.
